DESCRIPTION
John Hancock Financial Opportunities Fund (the Fund), formerly John Hancock Bank and Thrift Opportunity Fund, is a closed-end diversified management investment company. The Fund’s investment objective is to provide a high level of total return consisting of long-term capital appreciation and current income. The Fund will invest at least 80% of its net assets in equity securities of United States regional banks and thrifts and holding companies. The Fund may invest in investment-grade debt securities. The Fund’s investment adviser is John Hancock Advisers, LLC.
