DESCRIPTION
| Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. was incorporated in the state of Minnesota in 1979. It is an international offshore energy company that provides reservoir development solutions and other contracting services to the energy market as well as to its own oil and gas properties. The Company has disaggregated its contracting services operations into three reportable segments: Contracting Services; Shelf Contracting; and Production Facilities. Contracting Services segment includes well intervention, robotics and subsea construction operations. Production Facilities segment includes its majority ownership of the HP I vessel, its equity investments in Deepwater Gateway, L.L.C. and Independence Hub, LLC and the HFRS. The Company provides a range of contracting services mainly in the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, Asia Pacific and West Africa regions primarily in deepwater. Its current services include: Production, Reclamation, Development, Production facilities. The Company engineers, manages and conducts well construction, intervention, drilling and decommissioning operations in water depths ranging primarily from approximately 200 feet to 10,000 feet. Its customers include major and independent oil and gas producers and suppliers, pipeline transmission companies and offshore engineering and construction firms. The contracting services industry is highly competitive. Its competitors in the well intervention business are the international drilling contractors and specialized contractors. The Company is subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the MMS and the U.S. Customs Service, as well as private industry organizations such as the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). |
