DESCRIPTION
| JetBlue Airways Corporation was incorporated in Delaware in August 1998 and commenced service February 11, 2000. It is a passenger airline that has established a new airline category - a ‘value airline’ - based on service, style, and cost. As of December 31, 2011, it served 70 destinations in 22 states, Puerto Rico, Mexico and 12 countries in the Caribbean and Latin America. It is New York’s Hometown Airline ™ with its flights having as an origin or destination New York or one of its other focus cities: Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Orlando or San Juan, Puerto Rico. By the end of 2011, it operated an average of 700 daily flights. Onboard JetBlue, customers enjoy new aircraft with roomy leather seats and more legroom than other domestic airlines provide in their coach (and on some, premium) service. Its aircraft’s inflight entertainment systems include 36 channels of free DirecTV®, 100 channels of free XM satellite radio and premium movie channel offerings from JetBlue Features®, its source of first run films. The company’s on board offerings also include an assortment of free and unlimited brand name snacks and beverages. It also sells vacation packages through JetBlue GetawaysTM, a one-stop, value-priced vacation website designed to meet customers’ demand for self-directed packaged travel planning. In 2011, it acquired eight take-off and landing slots at each of New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Washington D.C.’s Ronald Reagan National Airport. The company is subject to regulation by the DOT, the FAA, the Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, and other governmental agencies. |
