| PharMerica Corporation is an institutional pharmacy services company, which services healthcare facilities and provides management pharmacy services to hospitals. As of December 31, 2011, the Company operated 95 institutional pharmacies in 44 states. The Company operates in two segments: institutional pharmacies and hospital pharmacy management. Institutional pharmacies provide pharmacy services to nursing centers and other healthcare providers, and the hospital pharmacy management business provides management services to substantially all of Kindred Healthcare, Inc.’s hospitals.
