DESCRIPTION
| United Community Financial Corporation, an Ohio corporation, was incorporated in February 1998 for the purpose of owning all of the outstanding capital stock of Home Savings issued upon the Conversion of Home Savings from a mutual savings association to a permanent capital stock savings association. The Conversion was completed on July 8, 1998. The Company operates as the holding company for The Home Savings and Loan Company of Youngstown, Ohio. The Bank provides an array of consumer banking, business banking and investment services in Ohio and western Pennsylvania. It offers various deposit products, including passbook savings accounts, demand deposits, individual retirement accounts, checking accounts, money market accounts, and certificates of deposit. The Bank’s loan portfolio is segmented into four areas - permanent real estate loans, construction loans, consumer loans and commercial loans. The majority of the Bank’s loan portfolio is permanent real estate loans made to customers in Home Savings’ market area. These loans are secured by the underlying real estate as collateral. The loan portfolio comprises of single-family residences, multifamily residences, and nonresidential real estate; construction loans; and commercial loans consisting of lines of credit, revolving lines of credit, and term loans. In addition, its loan portfolio comprises various types of consumer loans, such as home equity loans, vehicle loans, overdraft protection loans, and loans to individuals secured by demand accounts, deposits, and other consumer assets. As of December 31, 2012, the Bank has 33 full-service banking branches and eight loan production offices. |
