DESCRIPTION
Gold Fields Ltd was incorporated in South Africa in 1968. The Company is engaged in gold mining and related activities including exploration, extraction, processing and smelting. Gold bullion, the Company's product is produced currently in South Africa, Ghana and Australia and sold in South Africa and Internationally. It also produces copper/gold concentrate in Peru, which is sold internationally. The Company has proven and probable gold and copper reserves of approximately 48.6 million ounces of gold and 708 million pounds of copper. The gold production was 2.104 million ounces of gold equivalents in fiscal 2013. The Company competes with Barrick Gold, Newmont Mining, AngloGold and Gold Fields, among others.
