DESCRIPTION
| Packaging Corporation of America was incorporated on January 25, 1999. On April 12, 1999, it acquired the containerboard and corrugated packaging products business of Pactiv Corporation, formerly known as Tenneco Packaging Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Tenneco Inc. The Company is engaged in manufacturing of containerboard and corrugated packaging in the United States. The Company operates four containerboard mills and more than 70 box plants strategically located across the country. The corrugated packaging group designs and manufactures corrugated products, including conventional shipping containers used to protect and transport manufactured goods, multi-color boxes, and merchandising displays with strong visual appeal that help to promote the packaged product in retail locations. The Company’s corrugated products are sold through a direct sales and marketing organization. Its corrugated products are delivered by truck due to its large number of customers and their demand for timely service. The Company is subject to variety of federal, state and local environmental laws, particularly those relating to air and water quality, waste disposal and the cleanup of contaminated soil and groundwater. |
