DESCRIPTION
| Whole Foods Market, Inc. is a Texas corporation incorporated in 1980. The Company opened its first store in Austin, Texas in 1980 and completed initial public offering in January 1992. It operates over 299 stores: 288 stores in 38 U.S. states and the District of Columbia; six stores in Canada; and five stores in the United Kingdom. The Company is the world’s natural and organic foods supermarket. It has one operating segment, natural and organic foods supermarkets. Its mission is to promote the vitality and well-being of all individuals by supplying the highest quality, most wholesome foods available. Since the purity of food and the health of its bodies are directly related to the purity and health of environment, core mission is devoted to the promotion of organically grown foods, food safety concerns. It obtains products locally and from all over the world, often from small, uniquely dedicated food artisans. Products include: produce, seafood, grocery, meat and poultry, bakery, prepared foods and catering, specialty (beer, wine and cheese), coffee and tea, nutritional supplements, vitamins, body care and educational products such as books, floral, pet products and household products.
