| ConocoPhillips was incorporated in the state of Delaware on November 16, 2001, in connection with, and in anticipation of, the merger between Conoco Inc. and Phillips Petroleum Company. The merger between Conoco and Phillips was consummated on August 30, 2002. The Company focuses on exploring for, developing and producing crude oil and natural gas globally. Its portfolio primarily includes legacy assets in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia; growing North American shale and oil sands businesses; several major international developments; and a global exploration program. Geographically, its business is segmented into six divisions namely: Alaska, Lower 48 and Latin America, Canada, Europe, Asia Pacific and Middle East, and Other International. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, it has operations and activities in 30 countries. At December 31, 2012, it employed approximately 16,900 people worldwide and total assets of $117 billion. |
