DESCRIPTION
| CenturyLink Inc was incorporated under the laws of the State of Louisiana in 1968. CenturyLink is an integrated communications company engaged primarily in providing an array of communications services to its residential, business, governmental and wholesale customers. Its communications services include local and long-distance, network access, private line (including special access), public access, broadband, data, managed hosting (including cloud hosting), colocation, wireless and video services. In certain local and regional markets, the Company also provides local access and fiber transport services to competitive local exchange carriers and security monitoring. The Company strives to maintain its customer relationships by, among other things, bundling its service offerings to provide its customers with a complete offering of integrated communications services. The Company conducts most of its operations under the brand name ‘CenturyLink’. Its satellite television service is offered on a co-branded basis under the ‘DIRECTV’ name. Its switched digital television service offering is branded under the name ‘Prism™’. The wireless service that the Company offers under its agency agreement with Verizon Wireless is marketed under the ‘Verizon Wireless’ brand name. Currently, all IT and other services furnished through its Savvis operations are marketed under the ‘Savvis’ brand name. The Company competes with cable companies, wireless providers, and national telecommunications providers, such as AT&T, Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc. The Company is subject to significant regulation by the Federal Communications Commission, which regulates interstate communications, and state utility commissions, which regulate intrastate communications in its local service area. |
