DESCRIPTION
| Transocean Ltd is incorporated in Switzerland. The Company is an international provider of offshore contract drilling services for oil and gas wells. The Company’s business is to contract its drilling rigs, related equipment and work crews on a dayrate basis to drill oil and gas wells. It also provides oil and gas drilling management services on either a dayrate basis or a completed-project fixed-price basis, drilling engineering and drilling project management services. The Company has two operating segments namely contract drilling services and drilling management services. Contract drilling services involves contracting its mobile offshore drilling fleet, related equipment and work crews primarily on a dayrate basis to drill oil and gas wells. It specializes in technically demanding regions of the offshore drilling business with a particular focus on deep water and harsh environment drilling services. The contract drilling operations are geographically dispersed in oil and gas exploration and development areas. The location of its rigs and the allocation of resources to build or upgrade rigs are determined by the activities and needs of our customers. The Company has categorized the drilling units of its fleet such as ‘High-Specification Floaters,’ consisting of its ‘Ultra-Deepwater Floaters,’ ‘Deepwater Floaters’ and ‘Harsh Environment Floaters,’ ‘Midwater Floaters,’ ‘High-Specification Jackups,’ ‘Standard Jackups’ and a swamp barge. |
